Liger is a hybrid between a male lion and a female tiger, it is a zoo bred hybrid. It has the characteristic of both their parents and they are generally bigger than their parents

Ligers tend to grow larger than their parents because they have a disorder calledn "growth dysplasia", it is a result of an absence in a gene that limit their growth. Female lion mate with several male lion throughout their lives, so the gene from the male lion are adapted to maximie the growth off their offsprings. However the female lion adapted and have a gene that limit their growth.

Tigers on the other hand doesnt have this mating strategy so the female tiger doesnt have a gene that limit the growth of her offsprings. As a result the growth gene from the male lion is not counteracted by the gene from the female lion, this means the liger can grow without limitation

The largest Liger can grow to 3.3 meters in length and weigh more than 400 kg
